Birthday Boy!

Ok, so I kind of slacked off for awhile. Been busy living life. :) I couldn't forget to post pictures of my lil boys 1st Birthday party though. We had a great time. We did a Husker theme. It was pretty awesome. Joels Dad decorated the cake and did an amazing job! I made made the little cupcakes to go along with it. Grayson enjoyed opening all of 2 presents and them was way more interested in playing with the presents then opening anymore, which was fine because we had quite the line up of siblings, cousins, and friends willing to help open his presents. Though his birthday was on April 3rd we had his party on March 31st and would you believe it was in the 90's?!? We broke out the swimsuits and sprinkler. Grayson was not a fan of the ice cold drops, but it was a git with all of the other kiddos there. Last but not least, he did thoroughly enjoy eating his cake. Alright, enough chit chat, here's some pictures.

  

Potty trained!!!

WOOHOO!!!!! Kahlan is potty trained! Apparently I just needed to wait til she was ready. After a few attempts over the winter in where the excitement would die off after half a day and turn into frustration (on both sides) I decided to wait til she expressed an interest. I will admit that I did help spark that interest with letting her pick out princess panties. :) It took about a week and a half of making her sit, setting timers, having accidents...now she goes on her own. I very rarely remind her, and she hasn't had an accident in a couple of weeks. We have even stopped using pull ups when we go out.We still use them at night though more often than not she wakes up dry.

Craziness!

To start off with an update on Graysons cold that he had last time....It turned out that it was Roseola. Poor lil guy just looked horrible. He had this rash on the whole upper half of his body, including his scalp for 3 days.

 

He is still getting over the runny nose that he got from it. Add 3 teeth coming in and you got the recipe for not sleeping well at night. Which means Mommy isn't sleeping well either. Aside from that though he is full of energy and so happy to be following his big sis around all day long. He has mastered crawling on his hands and knees and pulling himself up. Nothing is safe anymore! He is growing so fast. He has been saying "Ma ma" and "Da da" for a couple of weeks now and just learned how to sign "Nurse" yesterday. So proud!

Not one to be left out of the craziness, Kahlan has started potty training. We went to the store to buy panties a couple of nights ago and she picked out Tangled and The Little Mermaid panties. She absolutely loves them! She has been doing great so far. More hits than misses. :) Proud parents here! Of course the weather would have to be awesome out when we're potty training....The one and only time since Christmas do I actually wish for it do be cold and snowy out. 

   

Here we go again...

Sick. Again. Sigh.

The kids woke with runny noses on Sunday. I didn't think too much of it. Then Monday hit. I should have hit it back. Kahlan hasn't been too bad, just a little less active and a little more whiny. Nights are rough on her though. She never has been a good sick sleeper.




Grayson has been a little space heater, battling temps of 103 since Monday. Medicine barely touches it. At least he's been able to sleep. That's pretty much all he's done. While I am enjoying the extra snuggles I just want my happy lil boy back. Joel and I haven't felt good either, but as least we haven't gotten it as bad as the kiddos.

New Year Resolution...

I've always contemplated starting a blog, just never got around to it. So here I go!

The end of 2011 and beginning of 2012 was a little rocky around here. Kahlan and I were really sick for the week before Christmas and the week after. Our parked van get hit on New Years day. Grayson used our phone as a teething toy and it took 11 discussions with verizon to get another phone. That's just naming a few...
But things are starting to straighten out. Graysons intolerance to milk and soy proteins seem to be gone. Had a scare last week but I think we are in the clear now. 7 months without milk or soy(for me since I am nursing)....that was a long time. Though I won't complain about the weight that came off just from cutting milk and soy from my diet. :) I was surprised to find all the foods I could have again not taste near as good as I had dreamed about...though it is really nice not to have to look at every single label of every single food we bought every single time.
Grayson is able to get around now too. Thank goodness!!! He would be sooo cranky because he couldn't go anywhere. He's got the army crawl down, and is starting to be able to crawl on hands and knees.

Kahlan somehow manages to get cuter everyday. Her vocabulary is picking up so much. It is so much fun to actually be able to "talk" to her. I could do without some of the attitude though. Wow. She has got the terrible twos down for sure! Her favorite word as of late is "NOW". That's a fun one.

Alright, well now that I've learned how much fun this is...I better get to doing something productive.
